The Smile Project has been growing steadily during the past couple of years: about 80 kids are now regularly attending our daily after-school activities (counseling, homework support, sports, art and English classes), carried out at the local school premises. We are learning every day how to adjust the activities on offer to have the maximum impact on the kids.
The Smile Project is a great tool to help children who have troubles at school or at home and who don't receive the necessary support from families who are often suffering from very poor socio-economic conditions. The Smile Project includes a fine mix of educational activities and - most importantly - it offers the kids a safe an healthy environment where they can spend their time after school. It keeps them off the streets and helps them get better at school and at socializing with other kids. Under the Smile Project our staff holds regular home visits, which allow us to identify children who need special, extra support via our Coup de Pouce Project.
